Sophie Dami

Sophie passed away July 19, 2020. She was 90 years old. A Mass of Resurrection and Thanksgiving for her life took place Monday, July 27 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Barbara Church. Visitation in church will begin at 10:00 a.m. A parish rosary will be prayed on Sunday, July 26 at 4:00 p.m. at Howe Peterson Funeral Home on Michigan Avenue in West Dearborn. Sophie was married to the late Orland Dami, the son of Mrs. Cintini Dami. Many folks from St. Barbara may remember Cintini who was a handmaiden of the altar - always taking care that the sanctuary was spotless before the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

Janice Jadu

Janice passed away July 20, 2020 at the age of 77. A Memorial Mass for Janice Jadu took place on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 5:15 pm in St. Barbara Church. Janice leaves behind her pride and joy, her daughter Leslie (Kevin) Cardwell and many nieces and nephews.

Theresa Hojnowski

Theresa passed away on May 26, 2020, in her own home, which is right where she wanted to be. She is now with her one true love, her husband Lawrence. Fr. Zbigniew celebrated a Mass of Resurrection and Thanksgiving for Theresa's life in her spiritual home, her beloved St. Cunegunda,  on Monday, June 1st.  Burial was at St. Hedwig Cemetery. We know that under different circumstances (no limitations on gatherings, no Corono Virus) the church would be filled with Theresa's family and friends celebrating her life, a life that included much kindness, directness (she got right to the point didn't she?!), and lots of handwritten notes and cards sent to everyone who needed some inspiration and cheer. Therese would light candles at the chapels of Blessed Mary and St. Anthony every time she came to church. When her illness kept her away, Fr. Zbigniew could be found in the church after Saturday Mass lighting the candles on Theresa's behalf, until she could be back and doing it herself. Thank you Theresa, for being the Light of Christ for so many! Rest in peace good and faithful servant.

Algira (Gia) Imperi

Gia passed away at the age of 52 on May 17, 2020. A Mass of Resurrection and Thanksgiving for her life was celebrated on Wednesday, May 20 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Barbara Church.  Gia's brother is Robert Imperi, the owner of Italia Bakery on Schaefer, North of Ford Road. Many folks remember Gia and her Mom from their time working tirelessly at the bakery.

Esther Irene Madejczyk

Esther passed away during the height of the pandemic. She was diagnosed with COVID 19 so her services were private with immediate family only present. Esther set a wonderful example with the love and care she took of her own Mom, Zofia, as she aged. She leaves behind her brother, Edward.

Sophia Dimanin

Sophie passed away on April 18, 2020 in the presence of her beloved children who were also her caregivers in her last few days. She was married to Dr. John Dimanin, who died two years ago, for 64 years. Sophie was a teacher in Dearborn public schools for over 50  years. A celebration of her life will take place privately.  You can read more about Sophia's incredible life by going to our Facebook page where we posted the beautiful obituary offered by her children.

Dolores Rosario Oleszkowicz

Walter Oleszkowicz called to let us know that his Mom, Dolores Rosario, passed away yesterday, April 21, 2020 after just two days in the hospital. She was preparing to celebrate her 90th birthday.

William Margitza

Willam's son, Franz Margitza, called to let us know his beloved father had passed away just before Easter from COVID19. Burial has already taken place in Woodmere Cemetary.

Daniel Juzswik Update on Service

Dan passed away on March 31st, 2020.  He was married to Joanne for almost 55 years. Mass in honor of Dan was on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.  at St. Barbara with honors from the Knights of Columbus.

We are keeping everyone who has lost  loved ones during these unprecedented times  in our thoughts and prayers.

Eternal rest grant unto them and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
